5 Minute Stars - Q&A - Bonus 45 Degree Stars
Information overload! How to make wooden stars with 45 degree angles. A nice and easy beginner project. I also explain how to make stars with 36 degree angles, to get geometrically correct stars, and I talk about the jigs I use. There's also a sneak peak at my 3D star project coming up.

Cut past 45 degrees ua-cam.com/video/SS9oiLreUnw/v-deo.htmlsi=RdRw5i-6Gr56eSbB
Very nice! I subbed for more 😊
Excellent video with perfect health n safety too. well done sir, a new follower won ov er!!
45 degrees possible the east way. Get a flat board. 1x4 (the 4 is horizontal flat on the cut surface the 1 is touching the back fence) Super glue it to the back fence of the saw. Cut a 45 both directions. 0 is now 45. Make cuts at 7.5degrees. 52.5 degrees.
Awesome
❤ brilliant idea! Did you do anything to the wood to preserve it, or just leave it au naturelle?
I turned one of those giant underground propane balls that are like 8 feet in diameter into a wood fueled focal point. Basically just cut three windows and welded three legs and vent holes and way to get the ash out of the bottom and then some Janky old grill racks and welded them next to each window. It was cash under the table. I never actually got to see it used because I built it for someone else using their tools and materials.
Cool? That things AWSOME!!
Badass. I’ll have to make one for my bodyshop.
Thanks! Totally worth it! Fun and practical project! Cheers
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This… is pure unadulterated man behavior heck yeah!!
It sure is!!! Only thing missing is a beer!
cool
Thanks!
Cool
Great tutorial. Hey, on the 3D one, try breaking it into parts, like part 1, part 2, etc
Hi! Thanks for the tip! I think that might work. Either that or one vid with all the fumbles and then a second vid where everything dialed in and a little more organized. Cheers!
This is a excellent experiment never really put in to thought of making one
Wish I would have watched this before trying a poly-stain blend on the 100 year old door I spent weeks stripping 😢. Stripping again.
OMG I know! I hear this too often. I feel your pain. :(
Great little project 👍
Thanks!
Que cosa mas hermosa esa Bosch😍
Good job and thank you for sharing Keep building
Thank you, I will!
Thanks! Very informative simply explained and helpful for my future projects. Appreciate it!
No prob! Glad it was helpful!
you pick up a toggle clamp from Harbor Freight for like 4.99USD
In case that link does not work 31.6 is one of the common crown molding interface cuts.
Can't wait for 3 3D star!!
** Americans ** Go to Harbor Freight for those Toggle Clamps & pay only $5.00 per!! 🤔 🤨 None the less Savvy great video & great content Sir. Keep up all the great work up there in Trudeau Iand (😔🤦♂️) & keep that Maple Syrup 🍁 Strong 💪 ✌️
Haha thanks! I wish we had Harbor Freight here, sounds like that place has everything! They don't ship here either. Cheers
Here in the US, Harbor freight carries the toggle clamps
It’s called “propagation of error” in engineering terms
Thanks!
Thank you Savvy Builds. I read in the comments that you would explain too much, but that is actually nice. If you have no idea how this works, it is very difficult. You have to know what to measure, to saw it to length I have now made 2, a smaller one from 18mm plywood, and 1 from 18mm MDF (this one with the 54 degrees). I think because MDF is nice and flat, this one is also almost really close to the sawn surfaces. Now make the 8 point star again, I also like that one. Thanks again very much.
Thanks! I appreciate you saying that. It's hard to know what people want sometimes. I would like to make another 8 point star before Christmas. Currently editing footage for a 3d star!
Nice video. Get those affiliated links sorted. Cheers from the UK
Thanks, will do! ASAP Cheers
Great description
Thanks!
I look forward to seeing the 3D star video. That really looks cool. Great work.
Thanks! I'm pretty excited about it too!
I love the dowel joinery!! ❤ Thanks for the video! Very easy!
Glad it was helpful! I love it too! It's great for fixing broken furniture too!
What a great video !,, thanks
Glad it was helpful! Thank you!
A very clear explanation, thank you. Could you share a link to the toggle clamps you, purchased through Amazon? Thanks, Dan
Try typing toggle clamps on the A site
@@robertsmith3518 Thanks, I wanted to make sure that I got the same size.
Look for clamp with GH 201 B written on it. Amazon seems to have many sellers selling it.
@@savvybuilds Thank you.
This is great! I watched the explanation/concept video as well. The only thing I'm worried about is clamping it too hard in the vice and squeezing the nut and affecting the diameter. But that might just be a thought and not an actual concern. What do you think? This is why I didn't like the table saw or chisel method. Setup time and getting the diameter right is a pain.
Hi! Thanks for watching both vids! The nut is surprisingly rigid but if clamped hard enough it probably would flex. I had another idea to change the way it gets clamped to eliminate that issue. Just working on a final design and then I will start filming :).
Both videos are stellar! You’re the man! Thanks Cheers
Thanks! 🍻
But, what if your saw only cuts at a maximum angle of 45 degrees?
I'll be releasing a video soon to address this question. There are a couple options :).
Ohhhh shit. He's alive. Banger.
Just score it and bend it with a strong hollow pipe it breaks in 2
That's a great idea! Prob snaps pretty easily. Thanks!
is possible to used weth the 45
If you're saw only goes to 45 degrees, you need a steep angle jig.
Can you make one with 45% angle
Yes I actually have another video on my channel where I make them with 45 degrees instead.
